California’s Composting Future
Composting has always been hip, but now it’s the hottest trend in the state. New state regulations are encouraging more composting than ever. Cold Creek Compost has happily offered nearby counties cutting-edge composting services for decades, and continues to be one of the few facilities permitted to handle food waste, a huge part of California’s waste stream. Thanks to Cold Creek Compost, Mendocino County and the surrounding areas are well-positioned to meet the state’s new requirements and help the state in its fight against climate change. Compost for Almond Farms
Drought got you down? Maybe the drought has your profits down, too. If you like pinching pennies, then you’ll love our compost. One of our favorite publications, Biocycle, recently did a brief report, Compost and Mulch Use on California Almond Farm, on how an almond farmer can save money and improve output with compost. Their calculations were done with standard compost, so imagine the savings that could be realized using Cold Creek Compost’s highly nutritious blend.
The Key Ingredient in Award-Winning Wine
Ever wondered what it takes to make award-winning wine? So have we. While there are a lot of secrets we’ll never know, we do know compost is crucial. We’re excited to see that several of Cold Creek Compost’s long-time customers have won the Mendocino County Fair Wine Competition. Our nutrient-dense compost is just what your crop needs to go above and beyond, whether you’re growing grapes, corn, asparagus, tomatoes, or cannabis. So if you’re looking to win awards, give us a call!
Recycled Organics Help with Drought Resilience
One of our favorite magazine, Biocycle, knows the situation in California. They’ve addressed our hottest (pun intended) issue farmers are facing. Luckily, compost can help. Check out their latest article pointing out another of the many benefits of compost: drought resistance. Recycled Organics as Drought Resilience Tools.
Biocycle has always been aware of water issues, so if you’d like more information on how recycled organics can help with your water problems, see their 2014 article on the subject here
Sonoma Garden Park and the Monarch Butterfly
Earlier this year, Cold Creek Compost was happy to donate a heap of compost to the Sonoma Garden Park. This park has been placing an emphasis on restoring habitats for the Western Monarch Butterfly, which is severely threatened. Hopefully, just a bit of compost will go a long way towards keeping these beauties alive and well in Sonoma. Find more information about the Sonoma Garden Park project on their website.
